Ruth Box
Sales & Marketing Manager
Having always wanted to be a vet, Ruth spent a lot of her
holidays undertaking work experience, spending a few weeks at a local mixed veterinary
practice and Equine Hospital leading up to A levels. However, it was during
this time, she realised that being a vet wasn’t quite what she expected or
wanted as her main passion was for horses and their structure and anatomy.
After discovering there was such thing as an Equine Science degree, Ruth began
shadowing equine physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists to
learn more and decided in 2013 to attend Oxford Brookes University to obtain
her degree.
After learning to ride on her Dad’s ex-racehorse at the age
of 7, Ruth has always been a keen equestrian, going on to compete in showing,
dressage and showjumping throughout her teen years. During this time, she also
worked as a groom on many different yards, gathering experience with HOYS show ponies,
dressage horses, point to pointers and eventers.
Although the course was thorough and prepared her for many
different possible careers upon completion, Ruth found she still wasn’t quite
getting her fix for learning the horse inside out and decided to enrol as an Equine
Bodyworker with Equinology at Writtle college during the summers of 2015 and
2016. Here she qualified as an Equine Soft Tissue Therapist to compliment her First
Class honours in Equine Science at graduation in June 2016.
It was shortly after her departure from university while
working for herself at Box Soft Tissue Therapy, that Ruth first met Pauline at
Trackener in the early stages and expressed interest for the product and idea.
Later that year, Ruth suffered a bad riding accident which left her with
temporary spinal damage and forced her to re-evaluate her work due to physical
discomfort and time off needed for healing. Opting to try something new, she
joined a graduate scheme at a Metal Stockholder selling non ferrous metals to
gain telesales experience for almost a year. Although she thoroughly enjoyed it
there, when an opportunity came up to be part of the Trackener Team in October
2017, it was too exciting an opportunity to miss.
Ruth now manages Trackener’s Sales and Marketing predominantly
based from home in Kent and while out on the road visiting customers and
conducting demonstrations. Her role also entails managing Trackener’s social
media accounts, writing content for their blogs and attending Equestrian events
when they exhibit. In her spare time, Ruth rides her loan horse, massages for a
few friends as a hobby and enjoys reading, playing the piano and days out with
her family.
